A traditional sweet that can be made on the occasions of diwali, raksha bandhan,Ganesh chathurthi and many more..!

Course:- Sweet

Cuisine:- Indian

Serves:- 4 to 5

Ingredients:

milk - 1 litre

saffron - a pinch

chopped cashews - 12 to 15

chopped almonds - 12 to 15

chopped pista - 12 to 15

cardamoms pwd(elachi) - 1/4 tbsp

sugar - 5 tbsp to taste

Procedure:

1.Take milk in a wide pan and make sure that the pan is a thick bottomed sauce pan.

2.Boil the milk in a medium flame and perform continuous stirring.

3.Continuously scrape the sides and bottom of the pan to ensure the milk doesn’t stick to the pan.once the milk is reduced to half its consistency add few shreds of saffron. This gives a rich flavour to the sweet.

4.Now add all the chopped dryfruits(cashew, badam, pista) and stir the mixture well for 2-3 min.

5.Add the cardamom powder as this enhances a very rich flavour.keep cooking this on low flame.

6.As you can see milk is attaining grainy consistency now add sugar to that mixture and stir it well until sugar is dissolved in the mixture.

7.turn off the flame.let it cool down for some time as it attains thicker consistency on cooling.

Delicious basundi is ready to serve!!!you can garnish this by adding some grated almonds pista and some cashew on the top.
